It’s Thankful Thursday!!!! Yayyyyy!!!
Being a young (working) mom it’s easy to get sooo caught up and forget to appreciate the Little Big Things – that’s why I started this series on my instagram page @oby_o some weeks ago as a reminder to focus on what we have rather than what we don’t have.
It could be anything…. Basic stuff, not so basic stuff lol so today:
I am Thankful for a glass of wine at the end of a stressful day….sometimes a screw driver, but let’s call it wine lol.
I am Thankful for the grace not to be embarrassed when J does something awful in public, because he’s only a toddler and THAT’S WHAT TODDLERS DO (do not be fooled by the “instagram image” being portrayed these days lol) they scream and throw tantrums and stare at adults and put things in their mouth BUT I’m his mother, and I love him ANYWAY.
I am thankful for my parents’ and their exemplary marriage of promises kept, vows meant, memories made and love tested but unconditional. It keeps me going, on those days that I really want to snap “his” neck lol
I am Thankful for “The Village”- the one it takes to raise children. My village is AMAZING – The Hubs, J’s nanny, his Grandparents on both sides (whose love for J is quite remarkable), and our siblings on both sides. With all the chaos in our everyday lives, I’m grateful for the stability and constancy that is “The Village”
And to conclude, I’m grateful for 5:30pm on a weekday. As much as I appreciate the challenges and fulfilment I feel from “the job” (and that credit alert at the end of the month is pretty cool too lol), there’s no greater joy than driving in at 5:30pm to the most excited cheeky little monkey standing by the door, waiting for “playground Time”. Sometimes he starts off before me at 5:00pm and I join in at 5:30pm but knowing that he’s waiting for “mama” to join in…..there’s no better feeling.
I admit I am one of those who sometimes forget to appreciate what I have, the little I have. But I have recognized this, even in others. So I am trying to change it; because if you don’t express what you are thankful for — in your own private moments, it is very hard to be happy.
So let’s start with appreciating the little things on Thankful Thursdays!!!
What are you thankful for??
Love & Light,
P.S: Thank you EVERYONE for all the love and support!! I receive the most hilarious, and sometimes the most heartfelt e-mails and comments. I’m grateful for everyone in this space, the new friends I’ve made here already, you guys are amazing!! Be you a SAHM, WM, WFHM, etc., there is an unspoken solidarity between moms which brings a level of courtesy, kindness even, and a certain sisterhood which is quite unexplainable.
It’s important for moms to commiserate, even if it’s just to hear each other vent, without feeling judged.
Hopefully one day we can all meet up! X
